Launch Raylight. Either have it scan in the background, or scan once. If it doesn't find the files, drag the folder into the MORE SCAN LOCATIONS box. Have it remove pulldown IF there is pulldown to remove..store links with MXF files, create metadata slate...

Launch FCP. Then FILE>IMPORT>FOLDERS navigate to the folder with the MXF files and import them.

LEAVE IT OPEN and in the background. Click HIDE if you want.

thank you for your reply. i tried to do exactly what u said. i opened raylight and scanned the harddrive. when i tried to open it on fcp>file>import>folder>(folder containing .mxf files) but it gave me an error message. thank you

You import the .MXF.mov files. What version of FCP? It needs to be 5.0 or later if you have a G4 or G5, 5.1 or later for Intel macs. Does the .MXF.mov file play back in QT player? There is a troubleshooting guide at the end of the application help.

thanks for your reply. first off i finally got some of my .mxf files to work. but i shot a firestore full of footages few weeks ago that im tryin to play on FCP 6. here is my situation:

1. i have footages that were shot in p2 cards that i was able to convert to .mxf.mov

2. the most important footages that i need to convert were shot using a firestore in p2 format. i dumped them to an external harddrive and accessed them through raylight. it didnt convert the footages from the harddrive. i even tried to dump the footrages abck to the firestore and accessed the firestore through raylight and it still didnt work. but when i shot a quick footage earlier using the firestore, it converted the footage on raylight.

3. but when i transfer the footages from the harddrive back to my firestore, it plays on the camera.

i dont know what goin on, they are all .mxf files but the files on the harddrive arent bein recognized by raylight but they play fine on the camera.

all help will be greatly appreciated
