ratio problem during compression

I've been trying to compress this 807mb file down to about 50mb, and it comes out looking great. the only problem is that when I play it back, the aspect ratio changes, and the 16:9 squeezed image I had before is now stretched out a bit. any tips? I'm using something called Ashampoo Movie Shrink 2 (found it on the net).

Are there options that allow you to set different PARs? If so and if you can determine what the resultant error is, you may be able to compensate. Perhaps this program has a bug in this area.

Have you compressed the same material with a different tool?

PS What's the story behind the screen name? Just curious.

no, I haven't tried using any other tools yet. The program doesn't really have any options to change, so I'll just use something else.

the name is just a nickname I got from some friends when I was in the 8th grade. There's a really long story behind it. Basically, I found myself in a 2 and a half year lawsuit with my school. wasn't fun.
