rather urgent: converting still images to widescreen format for widescreen film?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi. I'm making a short film with an anamorphic lens. Could any one please tell me how to convert still digital images into the 16:9 format using a computer, not the DVX100 pal, as I want to protect the original image colour and resolution.

Also, is there any special pixal shape or related technical issue to worry about when preparing to export the image for use in the edit file? For example, any recommended image file type, jpeg, Tiff etc.? I'm editing on Vegas 5 widescreen mode

Thanks in advance and regards,
Michael

but the "pixel aspect" distorts the image ???

That's good useful thanks, but my problem is that when I set the "pixel aspect" to 1.4566 (pal widescreen) on the image (which I imagine I need to do) , it distorts it. How do I get around this?
