anybody know a good place online to get rare films without spending a fortune?

i'm looking for four right now:

Baby Doll by Elia Kazan, written by Tennessee Williams
Ace In The Hole by Billy Wilder with Kirk Douglas
House of Strangers by Joseph Mankiewicz with Edward G Robinson
Le Samourai by Jean-Pierre Melville

I'm really not interested in spending more than fifteen or twenty dollars.

any ideas?

try ebay or amazon. i'm not familiar with those films, but I've found some pretty rare stuff there. I tend to trust amazon over ebay as long as you go through amazon rather than the seller directly. On the other hand, I only got ripped off once with ebay. The seller bailed and completely disappeared.

hope that helps a bit (but i know its not too original)

My buddy had a copy of The Star Wars Holiday Special he got at a comic convention. Funniest (saddest) thing I've seen in a long while.

LOL

Always good for a laugh and than a good cry afterwards.

THE greatest character in Star Wars lore was in this film.

No I don't mean Boba Fett...

I eventually bought all 4 of those on VHS. Now they're all on DVD.

Somebody is watching my purchases. Whenever I buy a VHS because the DVD isn't available, it comes out on DVD within a month. GOD! It pisses me off. (sigh) Somebody tell the studios to get a move on cause they're not pumpin em out fast enough for me!

While we're at it, here's a new list:
Johnny Guitar
Come Back To The Five and Dime Jimmy Dean Jimmy Dean
The DayTrippers (a DVD that isn't cropped)
Love and Pain and the Whole Damn Thing
The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man In The Moon Marigolds
Sometimes a Great Notion
I Never Sang For My Father
The Last Days Of Disco
What Price Hollywood
Love Among The Ruins
The Bachelor Party (1957)
The Catered Affair
Reuben, Reuben
The List of Adrian Messenger

There's lots more too. I don't know if I should buy the VHS or wait (some of em aren't even on VHS). But I'm afraid they won't come out on DVD until I buy the VHS!

Almost the same here, but I got lucky. I was about to buy The Equalizer on bootleg DVD...for like $120...but before I got around to it, the legit release happened. :)

As for finding rare-ish things cheaply: www.forgottenfilms.biz has hooked me up from time to time.
