Rapper Proof shot dead

wether they truly are thugs in real life or not, they pretend to be. how is it any surprise they end up being called on the carpet for it?

not shocking to me.

I'll bet someone $10 this will make him more popular than ever (I've never heard of him until now).

Maybe he paid one of the Soprano crew to wack him to help with record sales.

I'm with ya. I didn't know who he was when I heard about this... I still don't.

While I feel sorry for this guy's family and so forth, I have no sympathy for those who glorify violence, thuggism, and dead-end lifestyles for personal gain. I don't know this guy and maybe he doesn't reflect those qualities, but mainstream hip-hop has done nothing but help destroy urban communities. I'm actually a fan of hip-hop but hate those soulless sell-outs that hurt their communities while making themselves (and the CEO's of record companies) rich. For every Chuck D or Mos Def there seems to be 10 Fitty Cents.

and for every 10 fitty cents there are 30 Mos def like rappers that no one has ever heard of because the industry doesn't want to market that and doesn't give them a deal

true.. and i think the consumer and culture is partly to blame.

I've realized that in a way the entertainment industry shapes what people like.
Think about it...... How many times have you listened to a song that was so annoying and crappy when you started but after hearing it played everywhere it became catchy and you started singing it ? We can't help it it's human conditioning

i think it was getting hard for M to write new tracks...i mean, after all, he isnt the broke white dude in the ghetto anymore...

but he will now have a new bit of street cred and it wont take long before he releases a record around it...or at least a few tracks...

$$$$$
