Hey guys. Tons of people are putting TV shows available as download links. My question is what in the world are they using to convert too such grat qualities??? LOST is about 400 MB. I can download it play it back on my laptop and not get any or small amounts of blocks during playback. Is anyone having success doing this and if so can you please explain which software you are using. My latest experiment is handbrake. Thanks

h.264 is pretty much the gold standard for encoding high quality files in small spaces. However there are MANY confusing settings to h.264 and encoding it takes a long time even on today's modern computers.

As for Audio, AAC is good at low bitrates, but mp3 can still compete. With multi-channel formats you still have AAC and AC-3.

Its just a matter of getting good quality source material, pre-processing this source material so that it compresses well, and then using the latest compression software to execute.
