ramp slowmo

Here's how I do it...

Export into After Effects and use the time remap tool there.

OR --

Slice up the video into chunks and ramp down the speed for each section. This works very well and you'll only need 4 or 5 chunks to change speed on.

But by all means, stay away from timeremap tool in FCP.

wouldn't you just go to the "motion" tab, select "variable remap" mode from the settings dropdown and adjust the curve until you got something you like?
If you do it on a low res proxy, you can render a test pretty quick and tweak away till ya happy with it.
Alternatively, you could use a copy of RealViz's ReTimer which I also use - great for slow-mo effects, motion blur and retiming of clips eg. stretching a 1 second shot to 3 seconds. Memory intensive though with motion blur on.

Thanks works vary well!

Ok, I got the ramp slow mo to work in the motion path but the audio won't sync with it. The audio does not follow the pattern; it stays the same. How do I get the audio to be in sync with the slow mo? Thanks a lot!

hmm, good question - actually it's never been a problem for me as I've never used the sound inconjunction with time remapped clip cause it's usually with a V/O or soundtrack.
Dunno - bugger. Anyone else done this?

After Effects with time remapping is afaik the only ramp slomo tool that does audio. The only other option is to ramp your video using twixtor or retimer and then ramp the audio using the same curve with afx time remapping. I found the quality of slomos in FCP no really worth using anyway so I really recommend After Effects here ...

now there's a thought, I use ReTimer too, but I've never even looked at whether it can retime sound too. Hmmmm!
