ram in G5 tower; big difference?

I have the newest G5 dual 2.3 and I have 2.5 gigs of ram, but I still have relatively slow render and export time... will more ram solve this if i never have any other apps running simultaneously anyway? The desktop is only for editing and isn't even online, so it must be the system, any thoughts?

Assuming you aren't swapping to disk, more ram won't help.

I have 6 gig in my G5 and it sings so more ran dosen't hurt
