Has anyone tried either the KATA, Petrol or Portabrace raincovers for the DVX100A? Pro and cons's when using these covers. Any recommendations?

I could have sworn disjecta bought one of those early this year. Can't remember which one but it wasn't very expensive.

I have the Kata one,
I was working in some pretty extreme weather, worked great. Most importantly it kept the the DVX bone dry, while letting you get to all the controls. Having said that, I don't think you could really go wrong with any of the companies that you mentioned. It's a pretty simple thing, they're all made of the same materials, same construction???

Just my 2 cents.

Hey Smithy

I bought the Petrol a couple of months ago and am very happy so far.

I haven't taken it out in the rain yet, but I do a lot of shooting by the ocean so I basically just leave it on all the time. It even stays on in my camera bag. It's easy to get the cam on and off the tripod with the cover on and I feel much more secure inserting a tape under the cover than out in the open. One advantage that it has over the Kata is that there is no velcro opening on the top, which could potentially let water in. There is a little gasket instead, which you could use if you wanted to attach a sun gun.

okay gang, I am leaning towards the Kata. It seems Kata is made of nylon and Petrol made of canvas, is this correct?

Also, can anyone tell me how small these things pack down to when not in use? I am hoping to find a spot in my do-everything case, since it does me no good if I don't have it with me...

I have a Petrol. Its easy to get on the kamera and give a god protection against rain. It was a productionscompany who recommend me to bye it, becuse they use it.

We sell the Katas more, but I could swear most people buy either or depending on which one matches their rain coats better  (Everybody asks me what color they are.)
