Who uses them, if you do what are you using?
I'm looking to buy one but I'm young and tight on cash, what rain slicker do you guys reccomend?

Thanks.
Derek

I use the porta brace. I had an outdoor shoot this last friday and it was raining. Good thing I had the rain slicker, LIFE SAVER! ...worked great.

I have been looking for info on rain covers for a while and finally I emailed Panasonic. I received a reply saying that the Petrol rain cover ('PRC-DVX') has been tested and approved for this camera by Panasonic Japan. It is also referred to on the Panasonic website as the 'AG-YURC100', but it is the same cover. Here is a link: http://www.petrolbags.com/new_petrol_site/products/Cam_Protection_I/PRC-DVX/PRC-DVX.htm

I am planning on buying one myself shortly, I just need to drag myself out of bed early enough to ring EVS in the States!

Yes that is true the Petrol PRC-DVX is the same as the Panny version, but it is blue not black. The kata is the KTVA80114, and the Portabrace is the RSDVX100. No one has ever returned or complained about any of these rain covers, they have all been great for us:thumbsup: .

The portabrace also acts as a mild shock-stop since it has the thickest skin.

Perhaps this question should be in the audio section, but while we're on the subject of rain gear and shooting in the rain, what do people normally do about recording audio in the rain and protecting their mics without affecting the sound?

Great question Shawn! I've been wondering about that myself. Like, how do you protect your mic and get really good 'rain sound' without it just being the sound of the rain on whatever you're near?

That is a cool product, but IMO you will still be able to hear the rain drops on the shotgun mic. I think the key to recording audio in rain is using a wireless lav on the performer.
