RAID or internal HD Drives

I am starting to digitize a project shot on an HDX-900 in High Def (dvc-pro). We have about 40 tapes, 30 mins each. Final project, 22 mins. Any advice on whether to get an external drive or to try and stripe a few internals? I am working on a Mac Pro Duo-2.66 desktop on FCP-6. Starting asap, plz advise! Thxx.
 
Got it. installed two 1-Tb drives and striped them together. Left a 500g open for temp storage plus the 250g system disc. seems to be going well so far. any other suggestions i should be thinking about?

I had not planned on it. We're just working off of two flatscreen monitors right now. Though I imagine when we do color correction we'll probably want a monitor. What are you thinking?
