Radio mic set: Sony / Sennheiser?

Thinking about getting a usable radio microphone set. I have used a Sony UWP-C1 a few times, but many members here say Sennheiser G2 series are the only cheap ones worth considering. Sony is a diversity model, G2 is not. Prices are almost identical.

What is wrong with the Sony compared to G2? Are the included lavaliers equal in quality?

Are there other sets that I should consider? Forget the +1000$ stuff...

I can't say anything about the sony. The only sony mics I have ever used have been some wired lavs. But as for the g2, I have four of them and they work very well. They are easy to configure and the lavs are top quilty. I would say get these. I have never had a prob with them and they work just as good as the 1000 dollar stuff. Good mics

the lavalieres which come with g-2 could be called a total crap(me2,4) , do you a favor and buy dissent ones

Other sets to consider would be from Audio Technica, such as the ATW series:

$500 with 'okay' mic, but probably better to add your own choice (is available with several AT choices though).

Choosing a wireless lav mic system is QUITE the task, as there are MANY things to consider, and MANY choices!

i have the uwp c1 set (2 of them actually)... its hard to say. They do work very well, but most people seem to not know much about them, or not have much to SAY about them here.

To be really really honest with you, I dont even know myself whether they are better or worse than the sennheiser g2.

I DO know that my uwps sometimes do this weird breathing hiss thing, that exile tells me is to do with the compander.

Hey, everyone - whats the verdict with the sony uwp c1 kit? Even as a user Im not sure about them!

PS - i have to say, this whole diversity thing is WAY overrated. Sennheisers dont really drop out that much anyway, and at least for me, most of the time I can afford to just do another take. I cannot lie though, my Sonys damn near NEVER dropout. Even with a walk test, its like signal-signal-signal-GONE. No dropping as it reaches max range, just a straight cut off. (That could be cuz of my own test conditions, they could react worse in other places/uses)
