Radeon 7000

Re: Radeon 7000

..this seems like it would be easily answerd by just trying it.
i would assume that it will work, but the fidelity of the playback would likely not be too great.

Re: Radeon 7000

you could either move the preview widow onto the tv , or if the card can do so, specify that it plays any video overlay scource full screen on the s-vid output display. it would be in the driver properties, or toolbox software for the card. if its a no go for that .. just get a card that is compatable.

Re: Radeon 7000

..did you check the card options yet.. or just read the manual .. does it mention playing full screen video? my matrox card can pull the video from any video overlay window..even photoshop or preview windows in Encore and such. but if yours can just play a standard overlay on the outout, you might be able to do it.

Yes, it does, but only in professional broadcast cards or over FireWire. The 7000 essentially takes a picture of the desktop every 30th of a second and spits it out as two fields over S-Video using a simple RGB>>>YC converter. It does not have the hardware support to decode Y, R-Y, B-Y of a DV stream in the editor except after that stream is converted to RGB for desktop display. Thus the 7000 is innapropriate for any full screen NTSC use.

You can drag the video window into the S-Vido desktop and maximize it, but your product is about what you would expect for a double converstion in real time that does not sync to the screen.

There are cards which can do this on the Macintosh (or PC, this wont work well on any platform) but they do not cost 110 bucks.

kblzproductions,

You are better off taking the output from a FireWire device (like a VTR) or one of the major cards designed to handle this.
