I have a car racing scene in my next film and i was hoping to extract Need For Speed sound FX but i ended up not being able to. So now i'm looking for some sound FX libraries. I need one like this one :

But MINUS the $400. Or if anybody has already got a copy that they wouldn't mind letting me barrow a few. Anywayz, surely somebody on here has filmed a car scene and can give me some links or ideas. I appreciate it guys!

Well first I should say that the FX you were trying to "extract" are covered by copyright. It is also not legal for someone to "lend" you copyrighted material as those CD's are. When you "buy" a commercial library of sounds you only buy the right to use them not to sell or "loan" them to anyone else.

Now some useful info. Get your recording gear together and get yourself to a race track. Most seem to be very open to folks recording, I've done it a few times. Even if the race itself is closed to recording the test runs usually are not. You could go to sound Dogs and get specifics if you don't want to record, but your much better off recording. You can also trade for other original recordings but you need something to trade, another reason to record. Do you detect a trend here? Sound folks with nice large libraries are very generous (usually) but they also want a chance of a return favor. So get some sound currency. Also google "formula D" or "drift racing". It's done all over the US and that is a lot of what was used for the NFS games.
