Yeah, heard about this. I love Dark Star. Low budget as hell but a lot of fun. And of course Alien, Blue Thunder, Return of the Living Dead. A great writer. I read somewhere that he conceived of Alien when he was struggling with a form of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which is what eventually killed him.

Oh no! I was inspired by Dark Star back when I was in film school and even made a spaceship set in my basement based off of their methods of making blinking buttons in the ship. It will always hold a meaning to me and was a cool little story. Another shooting star has come and gone. RIP
