Though this is mostly a forum for digital shooters, some here will undoubtedly have had cameras or lenses serviced by Bernie and his business, Super 16 Inc. With a career that spanned 52 years, Bernie was one of the last great film camera and lens techs. He serviced several lenses for me and always preferred phone calls to email. We chatted several times. Most recently, we spoke in February when he recommended me some 16mm cameras to look for as I finally began to shoot celluloid film. He had a lot of warmth and personality, with a quick wit and a great sense of humor. It was clear that he loved his work and the film world is a little darker without him.

Bernie will be missed. I never met him in person, but spoke many times over the phone and he was always wonderful to chat with.
