Quirky design= Incredible deal for someone out there

This is really a steal. Factor in the excellent lens and you are getting a highly reviewed APS C sensor (D7000, Sony NEX 5N) full manual 1080 24P/30P 720 60P video, mic input, audio level control, solid build, time lapse, and very good photo capability for a body price of $120 dollars. Why? Because this is one polarizing design...and it's going away.
They are selling super fast, so if you are someone just looking to get started...or just need a small great camera, check it out.

I'd say its news, just because even a few years ago...these features at this price would be unbelievable.

Do they sell it body only? It's $370 w/ lens...
 
I can't comment on that lens, but as a long time pentax user who had yet to take a dip in the vdlsr waters, I bought a body before christmas and have been very pleased with its performance for the money. I have shot some canon 7D and t2i, and will say the video quality is at least comparable. I think the really bad sample videos stem from the poor implimentation of in body stabilization, turn it off and can be excellent. Best in good light, but this is true of all cameras.

Mic jack is essentially useless as it doesn't actually, display levels, or have a headphone jack, and only records 32khz mono. Internal mic is fine for dual system scratch track.

Despite being able to mount every Pentax k-mount lens ever made, you only get full manual in video mode with auto lenses. So vintage manual focus lenses must have the A setting beside 22 to work. You can cheat with the ae-lock button, but this only works after hitting record and changes every time so much worse than even the exposure tricks on the old HV-20. Stick to auto lenses and you are gold.

For an absolute beginner with no lenses, the 2 zoom kits at under $500 may be an even better deal.

I'm very tempted to buy another body, or 40mm kit before they are gone forever. I don't care what it looks like, and is actually starting to grow on me.

Sounds like a pretty good deal for the price. What ISO does it go up to in video mode? So, it has the same low light performance as the Nex-5n or no?
