Quicktime Question

I exported a 2 min. QuickTime clip from Avid on my Mac. When I burned it to CD then loaded it onto my PC the whole clip was dark, is there a reason for that?

Thanks!

maybe you dont have the video codec the mac used on your PC. Check the settings in AVID to see what type of compression, if any, it used.

If if wasn't compressed i dont know what the problem is. But, chances are you just need to install a codec on your PC. Update to Quicktime 7, that's a good start.

2 notes:
Mac gamma is 1.8, PC is 2.2 (PC tends to be darker)
Is either monitor calibrated to anything? If mac is set too bright and PC set too dark it's going to make the gamma problem worse.

scott thats interesting. What do you suggest then? I do all of my editing on my mac and I do my online stuff with the PC. I just calibrated my mac to the PC gamma level setting maybe that will help. I'm also going to export as an Mpeg-4.

you didn't specify what codec you used. If you used Sorenson, it will darken it slightly, and that's simply because the codec does it. That's been a bug/pain in the ass since it's inception, but other than that it's still a good codec.

If it's only two mins, will it fit on a DVD if you render it uncompressed?
