Quicktime Movie Importing.

So I'm having this problem.
I edited these videos on fcp at my school and I finally brought them home so I can upload them for the world to see.
and its a quicktime .mov file and I import it into vegas.
well I drag it onto the timeline to find it only makes a audio track for it, meaning no video. Does this has to do with the quicktime plugin for vegas?
can someone help me?

I had already posted this by accident in the journalism/documentary last night and have had it requested to be deleted and moved.

Which codec did you use? .mov is a file format, not a codec. You have to have the same codec installed on your computer at home.

what codec did you use with QT ?
which ever one you choose you need to make sure it is also on the PC ..

on the PC you can look at start-programs-quicktime- updater .. update the QT - you might choose custom and make sure that QT authoring is checked .. if you do not see Qt then you need to install it ...

oh.
i cant really remember.
i remember somewhat what I did in fcp.
i went export quicktime and i cant remember the exact settings.
well it plays fine in quicktime.
as for the codec i dont remember the settings.
i'll have to look tomorrow when i get back to school.

I've been having the same problem with Quicktime and Vegas. Both are up-to-date, and I installed the extra components in the custom update window. It's weird because some .mov files work fine while others only come through as audio. It seems like a codec issue. I only use .mov files when looking at clips in the screengrabs section, so it isn't that big of a deal, and I'm not bothered enough to start reinstalling software.

I've had the same problem with Vegas 5.0. I can only only assume that it has to do with Quicktime 7 and not all software recognizes the new codec of it, at least not yet. I haven;t found the codec yet but you can try this...

If you don't have the codec yet, what you might be able to do as temp solution if you have Quicktime Pro is to export the file as an uncompressed avi so you don't loose any quality when recompressing it in Vegas. It's kind of a hassle but a temporary solution...
