quicktime conversion to windows media question?

Why when I try to use quicktime conversion to export a video in windows media format to send to someone it only does 30s of a 3 minute piece and then it acts as if its done. It puts a file on my desktop but the whole video is not there, just a portion.
Please help. The raw material is from a logitech hd web cam and is 960 x 720. The material was recorded at 15 frames per second and the best i could do was make a 30 fps sequence to edit in. It seemed to work for editing but it won't export the whole thing as a windows media file. Why? What am i doing wrong. I've done a search and so forth but nothing.

That is all the free version will give you is a 30s export. Have to pony up for anything more. Go with H.264 if you can. Much better compression.
