Quicktime Conflict causing crash when attempting to export h264

Ok. I have eliminated my NLE as the culprit. For sometime now, I have been unable (99 times out of 100) to successfully export an h264. The one time I can most of my options are missing. I found that this happens not only in my NLE but in quicktime itself if attempting to export via quicktime pro. When I go to the settings my exporter, or quicktime (whichever I am using) crashes.

I had quicktime pro 7.1xxx. At some point (also around the time I had to reformat my system, etc) I ended up with 7.2.

I tried uninstalling qt and reinstalling... no dice. Same problem.

I uninstalled and backed up to an older version of qt... same problem. And, the additional problem of quicktime finds an available update and give me a visual c++ buffer underrun error and crashes before I can do anything.

Anyone know of any programs that conflict with Quicktime, or have any other solutions to my issue/experienced it?

This is on a PC by the way.

Thanks,
Jason

Well, I've figured the problem. For anyone who has buffer overrun, crashes when viewing some quicktime stuff in different browsers, or inability to export h264's either from within QT Pro, or your NLE, this could be your problem as well....

Appears to be a conflict with newer nVidia drivers and quicktime. The only two workarounds are to a) disable direct3d9 and directdraw in quicktime (choose GDI in the advanced tab in quicktime preferences). or b) back up to 97.xx something version of nVidia drivers.

I don't know whether it's quicktime or nVidia that needs to fix it, but that seems to be the issue. Fixed my problem doing option a) as I can't back up to older drivers b/c I will lose performance in my NLE if I do.

Hope that helps,
Jason
