QuickTime 7 Downloading for Dummies

Does anyone have any DIRECTIONS for people who can't download the QuickTime 7 Player without wanting to kill their machine? very simple and step by step?

this is for the Windows folks, since there are more of them.

I just find there are some people who are having a bad time doing it. And the fact that they ask you for your email and all that itunes crap is just sick. oh well, it is "free". anyways it is pissing off a lot of people it seeems.

"i just spent 20 minutes.."

"save to wAHTAHHat? "

I would make directions myself, but we don't have any working PCs right now.

Note that they don't have to give email address in order to download. Check Apple's site or QT area. You cna put links on your site to make it easier for people.

the email part, I didn't know. true? will pass that along.

and will look at the apple forums for more. while we all think it is quick and hip and easy to get the latest, the rest of the world finds this a PAIN..and scary, I think. can be embarrasing too. chore. what else.

Here is a step by step. I'm not sure what part of the process people are finding particularly scary.

1) Go here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
2) Select QuickTime 7 for Windows 2000/XP
3) Uncheck the two boxes.
4) Click the big "Free Download Now" button

5) Download the file, and run the installer.

OR

You may be able to use this direct link:

http://appldnld.m7z.net/qtinstall.info.apple.com/cisitalia/us/win/QuickTimeInstaller.exe

You never know when they may change it however.

Are people having to download QT7 because it's QT or because you're using a codec that's only in QT7? Some peopel (liek myself) haven't bothered going to QT7 yet because it kills QT6 pro. Rather not buy both all over again.
