Hey guys I just orered 1 Lowel DP light from BH Photo. I need the best scrim or silk decision ASAP. Which Srim/ silk would you get for general interview purposes

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=light+scrim&N=0&InitialSearch=yes

Here is a link to scrims but I didnt find the SIlk for a lowel DP. Also, I didnt get a C Stand but what are my other options to hold the Scrim/silk in front of my DP and then 2 par cans.

THanks So Much for what this forum has done for me

Scrims and silks do two different things. A scrim reduces intensity without modifying the light. A silk will modifiy (soften) the light. A C-stand is your best option for holding a silk. There are also diffusion gels you could look into. You could get away with clipping a diffusion gel on your barndoors. I wouldn't use a gel frame though... you would probably just start your gel on fire.

If you are going to use rip stop fabric for diffusion, play it safe and create a borax solution for flame retardant. I use ripstop for strobes. But for hot lights it will burn. Here is a solution that will help.
Flame Retardant Clothing:
9 oz. of borax
4 oz. of boric acid
1 gallon water
Rinse their clothes in this mixture after they have been washed. If you can't wash them, then spray the solution on them. This mixture is not permanent, it will wash off, so re-apply after each wash or cleaning.

Nice. I have had it start to burn once. now I just keep it at a good distance. I will try this since sometimes I need to have it close to the lights.
