quick silliy TC cable name

What is the time code cable called that runs from a 744t to a denecke (lemo to 1/4?). I can't find it on the Denecke, or sound Devices, and google. And can I use it for going to slate to red camera as well or do I need another cable. I've used it a million times but never remember what it is called.
Been looking for awhile and I can't seem to find it.
thanks

For RED they mostly use a "lockit" (ACL 203 from ambient).

It's because RED is not always as sync as it seems... Don't know when the firmware is updated ?

But I won't trust it 100%....

Looks like its not to hard to make one.

Just have to make two incase one of mine go bad.=)

Spoke with denekce and they said the slate will sync the camera. I think I'll just ask the camera department to sync every power down from the slate instead of spending another $600 on this small budget.

Though I did try to sync the red from a 744 on the last shot and the camera wouldn't recognise the time code.

If I get it working I'm interested to find out how off the camera goes since the new ts-3 slate tells you when the code is off.

Are you sure Deneke said the slate will sync the camera and not the slate will sync to the camera? In video, generally the camera is considered the TC master and the slate and audio recorder are jammed to it.

Charles? (I can't remember his name) who I talked to from Denecke said the 1/4 turns into TC output after you sync it and pull the cable.

I just realized though that I could have just got a lock it bock rather than getting a digital slate. NO need for booth.
Is that right?
Production asked for a digital slate though. I guess its still good to have the denecke for real film shoots when they come around.

What Denecke slate did you get? (in case you got the older ones that don't support 23.98)

Just an opinion but if I was requested to feed timecode to the RED
I would prefer to go cabled from the recorder rather than go cabled from the slate.

Just for the simple reasons of cable management. I'd rather drop a cable at the camera
and have it go off set with the video cable than to expect someone to constantly have to manage that cable ON set. Not to mention you're more in control of the timecode being sent directly out of your recorder.

Just jam the slate every 4 hours and let it be cordless.

My opinion.

I got the ts-3
I was under the impression that I can connect to camera with slate, jam the camera, and then disconnect.

It would be part of camera departments work flow when they power down since they already have the slate. and keep me free from running cable to camera. I would still check code every few hours on the slate and camera. Though I'm still wondering if jamming from slate will work being that last time I couldn't get it to jam from the recorder.

Just talked to Red support and they said that the cable between the recorder and slate should work for going between slate and camera.

Obviously just an opinion but there are a lot of bugs with the time code section
of the RED. I personally would never expect to just jam it and disconnect
and think it's "fine". NEVER.
And even on top of that I would never trust that someone is ALWAYS going
to re-jam it after every power cycle or every battery change..etc.

I would want a constant feed to it personally.
And without a lock-it that would mean a cabled solution.

But hey whatever works for you.

More often than not I just treat it like film and with exception of a comtek
I throw on it for a reference feed I just use a time code slate.

One of my next purchases will be the Zaxcom ERX1TCD
so I can send a high quality audio feed AND timecode to camera in 1 unit.
(and the ERX1TCD has a built in time code generator so if the time code signal
is lost here and there it continues on perfectly)

Good luck with whatever route you go.

New question:
So this next shot I'm working on is requesting a sb-t, but the operator says he is just going to jam it to camera and then disconnect. Is that the same as using a slate(currently we've been jaming the red from the slate no problems)?

And I'm not quite sure of the differences between Jaming from recorder to slate to camera versus jaming everything to sb-t and not leaving any wires attached.

EDIT:
Just wanted to add the answer to my question. I called Denecke and they said that there is no more stability to the Sb-t than that of a slate. I've read here that AC's will jam from the box and disconnect. Might as well use the slate if your going to not use a cable.

Sb-t or similar lockit box is designed to leave attached to the camera at all times.

I've been working on a shoot with the red for 2 weeks and so far they've been able to sync all the audio in FCP with a click of the button with the time code in the red jammed from the slate and the time generated in the 744t.

cheers
