Quick Quicktime question

I'm trying to open a QT video made on a Mac. I have PC. When I try and open it, it says I need additional software. It takes me to the QT site but there are lots to choose from. I'm using QT player 7.4. Any suggestions how to make the video play?

If you open the file in QT on the Mac, look at the "get info" window for the file. Wee what format is reports.

You might need to transcode for the PC use. What is your production goal with the file on your PC, or are you just trying to view the file on a PC?

Once you find you need to transcode, consider H.264 or .wmv as your formats of choice, then play with data rates until you get a quality you like.

Hmmmm...

You might need to update your version of QT on the PC. I have had mixed success with clients being able to review projects in H.264 on their PCs. The short cut for me has been making a .wmv version for their review, rather than taking them thru the QT process, which they are sometimes not allowed to do for themselves.
