Quick question

Is anyone else having this problem...? if so how can it be corrected. When I run my credits over my video image, the image looses quality as I'm viewing it. Is it normal? Soon as I take the credits of over the video the image is back to normal quality. I'm using Vegas 6.

I'm using a transparant background and placing the credit over the top of the video. Is there a way to run the credits over the video without changes in the video quality?

Thanks in advance.

You'll have to be more specific -- in what ways does it "lose quality"?

If you can post illustrative grabs, it would be a big help.

Ok. I'll see if I can post a grab.

To be more specific it looses sharpness. Once I add the credit to the video image, the image becomes a little blur. Maybe a grab would give you more detail, I'll work on it now...

Ok. I tried posting a still grab but too complicated, don't know jack about URL. Anyway I took snapshots of both images and you can't tell if there's a difference unless the video is playing. Even if I posted the grabs there's no way you can tell.

I gotta be doing something wrong. So nobody else has a problem with a video loosing quality(like sharpness) if they add a text over the video? This is really bothering me. I don't know any more specific I can be.

check your preview options...if it's on auto, it will decrease the quality as the processor load increases.

CapitalP: is your text background 100% transparent?

Is either track in any kind of compositing mode?

Are there any kind of effects applied to the text?

There's no effects to the text. As far as 100% transparent, I think so. All I do is right click the mouse and select "Insert Text Media" I make no kind of adjustment to the text, all I do is place it above the video.

Maybe I can post a link once the video is done so it can be seen, it's hard to explain without seeing it.

I guess I'll just have to do with no credit rolling on the screen, rather have good video, then fancy credits.

David what do you mean by composition mode?

Pre render it to view it at full resolution. When on preview, your system is being taxed and it's recompressing the frames.

I made a copy of a DVD to see if the problem would exist, and it does on the finished DVD... I gotta be doing something wrong if nobody else is having this problem... DAMN IT!

:)
Nope, but you can watch the trailer on my website, or if it gets into some of the film festivals i have submitted to , you could see it there.

And rembmer, there is alot more than just the film on the DVD, there is a behind the scenes documentary, commentary, and all of the Photographic illustrations that went along with the project.
As I am more concerned about getting feedback on my film than actually making money, I would gladly send you the film for free, but then I'm sure others would ask as well, and I really can't afford that right now, having just spent all of my money on school and this damn film that nobody wants to buy:)

i was just thinking quarter format 264 stream or something. the trailer looks dope btw. very professional, although the last 2 seconds are a little stereotypical...

are you making any money on this?

Money?
What's that.

A while back when I first posted this film, I did have a full version that I showed to the first 50 DVX users, but I had to take it down as it killed my server.

Not really in this one for the money. I won a couple hundred at a film festival, and have sold quite a few DVD's, online and at my show opening, but I figure I have about 500 more DVD's to sell before I can start making money on this project. Don't think that is going to happen, so no, I'm not making any money :)

But I don't want to hijack this post, so lets get back to trying to help this guy out. Any other questions, feel free to ask in my thread here.

Ok. Scharky I will email you a grab, but like I said before you really don't notice a difference unless the video is playing... but I'll send it anyway... thanks.

you could even send me a quick clip, maybe 2 to 3 seconds, one with and without the clips, but I will definitly need a comparison, or a before and after.

Cool, I will send the clip. look out for it, hope you can help, I'd love to be able to have my credits rolling accross the screen as the movie is starting without loosing video quality...
