Quick question on a quote

Hey gang. I know what I normally charge.

I have been asked to quote on a job that will span 3 full months.

The actual job is shooting a series of training DVDs. Including intro.

The job itself is fairly straight forward, light and shoot 2 cams (a cam static, b cam on dollied jib for some movement) for about 90 minutes (just me on the shoot - pretty easy single set ups), go away cut two cams together, color grade, hand off to sound, get back from sound output DVD master. Because of the nature, it needs to be tweaked a little in post to give it some more pizazz.

Im more used to quoting days at a day rate. What is a reasonable percentage of normal day rate to charge in this instance? Shoot, edit, supply camera, lighting, jib, dolly every day for 3 months (except weekends). I have an idea, I just want to hear others thoughts.

It seems to me that your day rate would be your day rate, regardless of whether it is one day or ninety days. The big difference is, there is more wear and tear over the longer haul, more chance of failure requiring the rental of a second camera to complete the job. If you want to do this differently, divide the number of days by the number of DVDs you will produce + expenses (Post, Sound, etc.), and charge by the DVD. You must factor in all the little things like lamps as well, just because no lamp will survive being used for 3 months straight, and you will need to replace them at the client's expense.

Because you'll be removing yourself from the work force for a quarter of a year, this is just mutiplication. You can give a little by rounding down that total to a round number but unless you are not booked otherwise, you'll be losing money by reducing too much.
I'd just multiply my weekly rate by 12.
