Quick question about P2 and Powerbooks

Does the P2 card fit and read(with software updates and whatnot) from the PCMCIA card slot in my Powerbook?

I remember long time ago people were saying the P2 is just 4 high quality SD cards in a PCMCIA shell, but I'm picking up information in various posts about the powerbooks and p2s not being able to connect to eachother. I'm reading stuff like the Macbook Pros having a P2 card slot built in the side while the powerbooks do not, people asking for adapters to connect P2 cards to Powerbooks, and having to use the P2Store as a translation unit between the P2 cards and Powerbook. Help me T.T

Well first off the PowerBook is perfect for P2 transfer. Yes it does see the P2 card once inserted into the PCM slot. Update FCP and download the P2 loader from Panasonics website and you are good to go.

MacBook Pro does not accept the P2 card at this time. It has an 34express slot which is to small for the P2 and will have an adaptor coming out soon.

I would decide on the purchase based on when you need to start shooting.
For today the PowerBook is the best choice. If you can wait than get a MacBook wait for the slot adaptor and also upgrade your FCP to the universal version for intel.

The project should dictate your needs. If you already own a 15 or 17 PB than you are ahead of the game.
