Just a quick question. Got a photographer friend using a DSLR looking for a video tripod. Haven't yet convinced him it's worth spending the big bucks (he will learn) but at least unlike a lot of DSLR guys I've worked with locally he understands his photography tripod isn't up to task.
It's been a while since I cheaped out on anything like this so just wanted to check, is the Weifeng/E-image/etc 717 head still the best no budget head to recommend? Or has something better come out? It has to be a bowl mount. Just want to save him from wasting his money more than he already is. Trying to talk him up to the 7060H that I use on my jib but it's hard to find now and a bit more than he wants to spend. I only bought mine because my Vinten required too much counterbalance on the jib but it's been surprisingly decent. Of course if he ever tries my Vinten he won't ever be satisfied with anything he can afford!
