Quick help with DV architect question

trying to burn a DVD for my actor with 2 clips on it.

Rendered each clip seperately as MGP2 and wav file, as usual (so far so good) and imported first clip into timeline of DV architect. Worked fine. But now can't seem to figuer out how to add the second slip to the timeline. (like you would, for ex on the vegas 8.0 timeline, add a clip and then place another one right of it)...

I fussed with it and wasted an entire hour, to no avail. HOW DO I PUT BOTH CLIPS ON ONE DVD BACK TO BACK?

if anyone could get me unstuck pronto it would be great because I have no time to read the entire manual and need to burn DVD ASAP, it's for an actor's reel.

Thank you :)

As I understand you cant put two different videoclip in Architect.

Its must be a single file.

So either you reimport them into vegas and edit them into one file, or U use some mpeg tool that edit the two clips together.

If you don't mind a slight pause between them, you can define the end action for one to lead right into playing the other.

Would like to add that joining 2 mpeg2 files in vegas is very quick if you use the same encoding settings.

Vegas then just reencode when it have to, and reuses the earlier compression whenever it can.

So let me recap to make sure I understand this right:

Reimport the two mpg2 files into my vegas timeline to create a new project comprising of both clips back to back. Then re render it again as an mpg2 with no audio and then as a wav file - to end up with one clip to import then in DVd architect

And what you are saying is the second rendering of mepg files will be fast because it ewas already rendered before.

OK. but will I lose quality this way? (double render)

Let me know if I got this right. thanks

:)

You won't lose quality if you do it correctly.

Make sure the timeline settings match the video. Then render out with exactly the same settings you did before. It should b pretty much lightning-fast.

But make sure, in your general preferences, you have "Enable no-recompress long-GOP rendering" checked. That's the last check box on the bottom.

Don't hate me for asking this, but: how do I do that? I know very little about DV architect and have a deadline with actor. PLUS I am also planning a big on location shoot this week-end so time is sparse and diving into help files at this moment not much of an option ...

usually I only use Dv architect to burn a DVD of one file and I just darg it to the timeline and click "burn" you know, the very basic minimum LOL...

Thank you David,

Ok, OK I am making notes :)...

rendered video as mpg2 for Dv architect widescreen 24p. Since I am working in a timeline of 24p for 720-24PN mxf files. So if I reimport the clips back into same timeline, am I OK?

I am sorry for being so ignorant. the more I learn, the less I know LOL...

No; import into a 24p DV widescreen timeline.

It actually probably doesn't matter, but it will take some variables out.
