Questions from a Non-DP

Hello all. Hopefully you guys can entertain some questions from a non-DP like myself.

I'm considering getting a 35mm adapter for the HVX we have in our shop. What I'd like is a primer or FAQ on the basics of these adapters, with definitions and uses for all the parts (such as, an Achromat is used for ______________.)

Also, info on how to get around issues like the lack of backfocus on the still photo lenses, and what affordable cinema lenses are out there.

I've looked around, and while I seem to find chunks of info here and there, I haven't found anything comprehensive that starts from the ground up, and tons of gaps.

Is there anything like this out there?
