Questions for the Director

Hi,

Instead of just jumping into cutting a scene, I'd like to talk to the director about each scene and get a sense of what he wants. So what are some good questions to get a director to answer about a scene that will help the editor?

What's most important about this scene?

Having a brain fart right now so unfortunately that's all I can come up with

Some potential questions that they should be able to answer (if they know their story and their job)

- What feeling do you want the audience to have at this moment?
- Where in the narrative arc of the story does this scene fall?
- What type of energy does this part of the story need to communicate?
- Where is the character's heart & mind at this point of the story?

No doubt there are others, but whenever I've directed people over the years these are the things that I try to communicate to the team helping me bring the story to life.
