Questions about exporting 16x9

Hi, I recently purchased the dvx100a and have been fiddling around with the various features that this camera offers.  I've also been using FCP for years now and am quite familiar with all of its offerings.

However, I'm having issues with the "squeeze" mode when exporting the footage from FCP.  I capture everything perfectly, but I'm running into some confusion regarding the proper export methods when dealing with "squeezed" or "anamorphic" footage.

Using the standard "Quicktimes Movie" export option in FCP 4 basically outputs the clip without any changes, but when opening the file, the aspect ratio is still 4:3 resulting in a stretched image.  Is there a way to rectify this problem so that quicktime plays the file in 16x9?  Another method I've heard of people using was exporting the anamorphic footage to 4:3 with a widescreen matte over the image.  How is this done?

I'm sorry if this topic was discussed already (I'm sure it has) but I haven't been able to find the answers after a lengthy search of the forum.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think I figured out the problem. I apologize to those who waisted their time clicking on this topic, as I know that many of you are probably sick of discussing this issue. Now, back to your regularly scheduled program, and stuff.

I hope you did figure this out, but the easiest way is to use the widescreen feature in Compressor for you exporting needs.

Good luck,

Re: Questions about exporting 16x9

When I export from FCP 4 to quicktime, my project is stretched slightly to 16:9, even though I cropped in camera. Any ideas on how to fix this?
