Questions About Developing a Feature

Ouch you guys need permits even on private property? That sucks complete male body parts... I'm developing my first feature right now with 20k (laugh if you wish, because I did) and one thing that saved my butt bigtime (and this depends on your location) but in my case all the locations are private property including my own. This is a great thread and lots of info here has already helped me out so thanks fellas. :)

The scene-by-scene breakdown can be done by [almost] anyone, and that'll go a long way toward helping you develop the overall budget. Figuring your days and so on is a more intensive task - requiring someone with practical production experience.

First order of business is the breakdowns by slug. You can mark it up with the industry-standard color codes with high-lighters or using breakdown software. I always recommend Celtx for low-no shows because it is... well, free! It conforms to script and breakdown standards.

Depending on what is in your script, you, with an accomplished and professional crew might get 3 - 6 pages per day on an HD show.

I just finished assisting on a relatively conservative (no crazy stunts or VFX) 112 page feature in 25 days - it is possible. Break it down.
