I'm using vegas 6 and I have edited a short film to my liking. But when I watched it again I found a shot to be too long so a cut the excess part out of the timeline. Now my film is not connected because there is an empty space from were I cut. How do I connect my film back together again without changing all the settings I already have such as dissolves. I could move each seen one by one but it would mess up the dissolve timings I already set. I know I'm making this sound more complicated than it is but this is the best I could explain it.

Quickest way will probably be to enable ripple edits (button on the toolbar) -- but make sure it affects ALL tracks (there's a dropdown menu arrow on the side).

Then, double-click the open space between the two clips. You should then have created a loop region between them (it should be grey). Then, press "Delete."

But make sure you disable ripple edits as soon as you do it.
