Spot,

I have an LCD HDTV. I have tried connecting it via the monitor output on my laptop. When I in LCD/VGA mode, the full screen of my computer is shown. When I do it in LCD/TV mode it says the that format or signal is wrong. Why? I have to mention that it is difficult to activate. It was just luck when I got it to work in the second mode one time.

Can I buy a VGA to DVI adapter and then use DVI to HDMI cable to get the digital signal to the LCD TV?

If you're wanting to use the HDTV as a preview monitor, you should send out the signal by firewire (to your camera, or to a deck), and then into the TV by s-video -- or component, if available. That will give you the proper color space, etc., needed to do accurate color correction and effects. Using it as a computer monitor won't.
