I've been searching the forums but my queries result to hundreds of threads, after viewing the first 40 or so, I try another query. Can someone help me find some info or answer my question?
My question is:
Will a wide angle lens allow me to get a shallower depth of field?
My research in the threads shows that this isn't really a yes or no question. Maybe it would be better to agree or disagree with my theory:
If I'm 10 feet away from my subject with my DVX stock lens and am able to zoom in and get a very shallow depth of field would i be able to decrease my distance from the subject while still maintaning the same framed shot? Or do i have this all wrong and what i would need is a tele-converter and i would be zooming out to frame my shot.
Basically what i'd like to do is get as wide of a shot possible with the shallowest depth of field excluding the following options:
1-using a 35mm adapter
2-moving the subject away from the background or placing items in front of the subject.
I've read the following link: http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/dof/index.htm but can't say i completely understand it to the point i could explain it or answer my above question.
Can anybody open an iris on this question?
All of you kick ass!
