Question: Using Tele-Extender with MatteBox..

Hi -

I'm looking to use a Century Optics 1.6x Tele-Converter with a Chrosziel 411-53 Mattebox.

Does anybody know if I need additional hardware (step down ring, replacement place etc.) for these to work together?

Any other considerations?

Thanks!
Tim

Re: Question: Using Tele-Extender with MatteBox..

As I am sure you realize, the front of the Century 1.6X has a front diameter of 105mm. So you need what ever hardware required to adapt to a lens of that diameter. I am sure that a dealer like EVS or the distributor 16x9, Inc in Burbank Ca can tell you what is required.

Hey Bill, What about using filters with the 1.6 extender? Will a standard 4X4 work or would we need to get really creative?

4x4 filters are fine with the 1.6X Century Tele

On the 16x9 site, there is a pancake adapter (Adapter plate) called the 420-04, that converts to 85mm. I have to call them and find out which one converts to 105mm, I think the 420-05 or 420-06. Here is the link to the blowup diagram:

Tim please email me and remind me to do this. This product totally slipped my memory earlier.

Bill, you guys should seriously consider putting useable threads on the 1.6x.

I'd love to put a UV filter on this to protect the glass but, as it is, there's nothing to prevent the glass from getting scratched in the field. This was a pretty hefty investment for me and I'd like a little peace of mind knowing I am protecting that investment.
