Question- Upside down LEX solutions

I don't know if you have forgotten to turn on or off your LEX, but I often do.

I figure that if I flip it upside down I can see the power light better so I flipped it. Not only I can now see the light, but the image is perfectly centered.

I need to figure out how to use the rails and matte box I have and spend as little as possible to mount the FF and matte box.

What are my options out there?

I know the Zacuto's Z riser is good. but the price is not.

I need to solve this fast. I want to have for my next shoot Tuesday. HELP!!!

I can't believe that no one has come across this problem before me.

No problemo I found a cheap solution. The Cavinvention here it is.

Hey Douglas,

I think turning it upside down for that reason may be a drastic solution. Carry around a pack of batteries just in case you forget.

The more you use it, the more you're inclined to mindlessly turn it off. I know that, in the beginning, I would forget and leave it on over night.

However, now I actually turn it off between shots which is a BAD idea: at that point, you forget that it's off and may not notice until it's too late.

I just posted a picture of my new CAVINVENTION

The best thing about it is that the GG is perfectly center. I love it.

It took me an hour to back focus the Nikon mount, but I am happy.

Oh and I don't mind leaving it on. It is when I am using the glidecam or I don't have an outside monitor and I leave it off. :Drogar-Angry(DBG):

Hey Douglas,

Very interesting. Please post a closer image of your ingenious rig so we can inspect this Zacuto killing solution. Any additional info is great too. Thanks.

Letus makes an extended riser - put an additional rail mount on this and add another set of rods - voila - snorkel up issue solved.

Here are some shots of the CAVINVENTION

shame it doesn't work with the ex1 as the monitor gets in the way despite zacuto using it mounted upside down in their photos

Sweet!

Sweet!

Like the looks of the setup but can't find that riser on Cavision's website. Do you have a part#?

I used the Letus rod support to hold and extra Cavision rail support that I had from another camera.

It is actually very easy to do. I just need to buy extra rods.
