question regarding sony dsr 11 deck

Hey All-
Several questions regarding the dsr 11. Does it accept full size sony dvcam tapes? I want to dump final cut pieces to tape. Would the full size Sony dv cam tapes be better quality than panny pq or mq tapes?
Also, I hooked up a client monitor to the firewire out of my deck. I dont see images unless I am digitizing. I dont see clips or sequences in a timeline. Why? Any suggestions?

Yes it accepts full size DVcam tapes, and yes, they would be higher quality than the panny MQ's. Whether or not this higher quality is noticable is another questions....but yes, they are. What NLE are you running? I know in premiere to preview on an external monitor, the preview settings must be set to "preview on external DV device and desktop" or something to that nature......

thanks for the reply. Im running Avid Xpress Pro. I was wrong. Im not running fire wire out, Im running rca out of the dsr 11, into the monitor.

I'm not familiar with Avid, but there is probably a similar setting if you search in your preferences or settings menus.
