If I were to work with someone that has a DVX and I wanted to have the same look (color, contrast) out of the camera, would all I have to do is make sure the scene files are identical and use the same white balance card on each cam?
no, the scene files measurements on the HMC are more in depth then the DVX. Example, the Master Ped on the HMC reaches -50-50 i believe? and the dvx only reaches -10-10, I think there are comparisons somewhere around here that have a contrast comparison chart between the 2, you have to lurk around and most of it will be just using your eye.
I 2nd that. I think actually the master ped goes to -100.. One way to possibly get them close too is to A and B the two on a monitor and for the HMC you could monitor the composite to see how that looks in relation. You'll ultimately be able to get a better overall match if your final result is SD and or webstuff.
I was really happy with the results on a project that I did that has mostly HD, but there were two prominent pieces that had DVD... Since it was a web delivery.. really held up pretty well.
Thanks guys. I was looking into getting a DVX as a second cam, but I may just have to wait and see what that new GH1 has in store. The 60p of that cam would sure be nice over 60i of the DVX.
