question regarding manipulation of a shot

Hi guys,

I originally posted this in the PS forum, but realized that it might suit more After Affects.

I have a 2.11 sec. shot in which I'd like to change an element, specifically- removing some (fake) blood from the subject's nostril. It is a CU, and the subject moves his head slightly.
I'm trying to use the clone tool for that, but because there is a movement (of subject's head), the clone area obviously moves.

What is the best way to mask/remove the blood while tracking the subject's motion?

My first instinct would be to make a clean patch by taking one frame, clean it up (use the clone tool) and track that back over the footage in After Effects.

You'll also need to degrain/ regrain the patch.
