I have been using H4n with few booms (thru xlr), all with the same problem.
The volume seems to peak on H4n screen, but when put in final cut, the db is around -20 area, very low, almost unusable level.
But when I use Rode VideoMic plugged into the Mic 3.5mm jack, the db is normal.
Am I doing something wrong with plugging the boom directly into H4n's XLR jack? Is it because I am not using a Mixer?
Also, the battery will die in about an hour.
One major difference between VideoMic and the booms is that videomic is battery powered.
Is that the problem?
If I buy NTG-2 power by battery and plugged into H4n's XLR directly, is that a good way to go?
And how long will NTG-2 last with its battery?
Thanks for all those who answer,
I am really retarded when it comes to sound.
