I'm wanting to buy A new 32 or 64GB p2 card for my HVX. I was wondering which series of p2 cards I should buy. A or E series? I would appreciate any help . also... I have the original HVX-200. Do I need to do anything to my camera for the cards to work?
You can use any cards with it, whether original, "R", "A", or "E" series. Most folks seem to be going with the "E" cards because they're much less expensive. "A" cards are better suited for those who plan on using the cards extensively and in high rotation (like a news organization) but for more casual/general shooters, "E" cards should be fine.
Make sure you download the latest firmware updates for your camera and you can use any cards.
I"m trying to update the firmware of my hvx. (which I've never done) It's saying i have to format the sd card before copying the firmware update to the sd card. (is that correct?) I have the hvx frame rate hack codes saved on this sd card. If i format the card will I lose the frame rate hack on my camera? What do I need to do to keep the frame hacks and get the new firmware installed?
If it's already formatted for use in the camera, you shouldn't need to format it again. Just make an FW directory in the P2SD directory, and copy the firmware file into that FW directory, and the camera should be able to see it.
how do i do that? In the past when I downloaded the frame rate hack i just dragged and dropped it into the sd card icon on my computer. But i do know I'm doing something wrong because I copied tried the same thing with the firmware update and under the operations screen within the hvx there was no update icon like it showed in the instruction diagrams.
