Question on adapting Nikon Lenses

We currently use some old manual Nikon AI primes on our af100 (as well as the voightlander). We just purchased the following lenses.

Tokina AT-X Pro 280 AF 28-80mm F/2.8 (Nikon Mount)
Tokina AT-X Pro 828 AF 80-200mm F/2.8 (Nikon Mount)

Does anyone know if the same nikon adapter we are using for AI (cheap, metal, ebay) will work for F mount? I have never worked with newer nikon mount lenses and can't seem to find a straight answer.

Thanks!

Yes they do have a manual aperture ring. Perfect.
Yeah, we almost pulled the trigger on the Zuiko f2 package, but I just couldn't justify the extra cost and fact that they wouldn't fit an S35/APS-C sensor. So we bought these two both used in good condition for $1,000. We are pretty excited.

Yes, they should work fine, provided you are not having any issues with your specific adaptor. I found the cheap nikon adapters I have used to have alot of play and have flange distances that are off spec, resulting in loss of infinity or focus problems. But, to answer your question, those lenses will mount on that adapter. Any nikon SLR lens will mount on any standard nikon mount, it is beauty of the nikon mount, it has been unchanged since the first nikon... the issues comes into play with newer G/DX lenses (like the tokina 11-16mm) that lack an aperture ring and need the aperture to be controlled via the mount. Only lenses made in the past 10 or so years for nikon are built like that.

I'll second the motion on the cheap adapters. We were thrilled when we found adapters for next to nothing, and we stayed thrilled for about two weeks. We're beyond 'play' now and getting more into 'droop.' We need to either replace these things or .... well.....there's a Viagra joke in here but I won't go there.

LOL the adapter we currently use has been great, but it has only been used with small primes like the 50mm 1.4. These new lenses are definitely in another size bracket, so we'll see.

Cheap nikon adapter I was using not only had play, but as I learned the hard way, had a soft crappy spring on the release catch....caused two lenses to fall off in two hours (ouch!).
Repaired lens now sits snugly in a Novaflex adapter :)
