Read your sticky on capturing 24p.

There is no setting to capture at 23.98, so I'm confused as to what you are saying. There is only a 23.98 sequence setting, not a capture setting.

There is only 29.97 capturing - either normal, or 2:3:3:2 pulldown, which converts the 29.97 footage to 23, However you are saying TO USE THAT SETTING. It sounds contradictory.
 
Right exactly- you don't capture at 23.98 because that's not what's on the tape. The tape is *ALWAYS* 29.97. It's only after full 29.97 capture can the pulldown be properly removed to resolve the footage back to 23.98. That's why you capture at 29.97, remove advance pulldown and then edit at 23.98.
