question for Matt

Matt, gotta repost this for you: Do you have to open up the BBG to fit the T.H.E. hyper? If so, does it indeed sound like you're breaking it when you twist it open? ( I think I read that somewhere.)

power - I know this question was for Matt, but you do indeed twist the bbg
to open it. Be careful not to try to pry or pull it open. I can't advise on the
mic, I don't own one.

If the front end isn't an interchangeable capsule, then I would imagine you'd
have to slide it in backwards. Ease it into the opening. That horrid rubber thing
can give a person fits even with the Oktava, so know we are all fighing that
same rubber war.

Good luck to you.

Oops... sorry man. You know you could just send a PM for stuff like this if you want...

The BBG UNSCREWS by 1/4 TURN... there are 3 interlocking tabs on the one half, and 3 slots on the other half... then when the 2 halves are together it's only 1/4 turn to either secure it as closed or to loosen it so that it can be pulled apart again. 1/4 turn... you will feel when it won't twist any more, but all you need to know is 1/4 turn.

If it's hard to get the two halves apart then you didn't turn it 1/4 yet. The molding proces sometimes leaves a tiny little flake of plastic coming off of one of the tabs and that may cause a little resistance... basically if the BBG won't open easily then you didn't get to the point that the tongue and groove or tabs and slots, are lining up yet.

It should be easy to open and close it, but yes I understand the feeling when you're holding what feels like such a fragile item that cost a fortune for what it is... I understand you don't want to break anything. I think I should do a short video on this item... that's why I didn't answer this yesterday, but then I forgot to come back to the forum. So I'm posting this just so you can relax about the BBG, but I should (or anybody else can) show a short video to explain our friend, the BBG.

With the THE mic I put it in XLR end first through the inside and push it down until the bottom of the mic sticks out the bottom of the BBG... I put all mics so that the top of the mic is just slightly past center of the BBG... basically I try to have the diaphragm of the mic at the center seam of where the 2 halves join... ignore the screen of the mic... that will stick past center.

Other then that I can't think of anything else... I think it's time for the video.

A video is a great idea! The first shot should demonstrate swallowing a Valium and waiting for it to take effect.

Matt, would you mind measuring (inches/mm/whatever) how much mic you see from the top and bottom of the BBG?
