Question for LTM Pepper 420, 650 owners

The other day I got an Altman 650L and I'm not very impressed with the beam. It's smooth, no splotches of slight darkness in it, but it just doesn't look the way a fresnel should. Here's what it looks like at full flood:

On the other hand, my Midget looks like this:

As shown, the beam on the 650 is nowhere near as even as the 200, or my 1k which I also tested but didn't feel like pulling out for a picture. It looks like it's half spotted in, but it's not. If I can get an affordable replacement, I'd like to, and the Peppers seem to be my next best bet since Arri and Mole 650's are always way overpriced for me. So I'd like to hear from people who own them or have extensively used them - do the Peppers have that flat, even beam with a sharp falloff at full flood, or do they look more like my 650?

The beam of my Peppers is more like the second image. Agreed on your assesment - as well as the less defined edge, the upper image has a noticeable hotspot in the center. Not what a fresnel should ideally look like.

Took the whole light apart and the problem seems to be the lens. I held the lens for my midget in place for the few seconds I could before I would get burned and the beam looked fine. Trouble is that a new one costs too much and won't even fit without some modding. The last thing I'll try is moving the limiters so that it can flood out further while using the current lens. If that doesn't work, I'm selling it for a Pepper 420 or 650.

UPDATE - considerably better now, but not quite where I'd like it to be:
