Question for Jarred or the powers that be- just curious....

Something like 300 posts in the HVX section, and here I am for the first time posting in
a foreign DVX land...
Anyway, it occured to me that the DVX may be near the end of it's product life cycle, and be replaced by a new model in the next couple of years. I'm sure DVX user isn't going anywhere, it is too valuable a resource for too many fiilmmakers - but the name
DVXUser could soon be obsolete. So what will be new name be? More filmmaker oriented rather than specific camera model? How about a contest to determine it?
Is that enough questions?

We've always had lots of users without DVX100's, so it's not like the name suddenly doesn't fit anymore. This site will continue to be the best resource for DVX, HVX and HPX users (and anyone using the P2 workflow), but we're primarily a filmmaking site. Jarred was ready to roll out a new name we've had in the wings for a while, but that's on hold for the moment. I'm not sure it really makes a big difference. Just consider DV standing for Digital Video and the X for....uhhh...Xtreme. That's right, Xtreme--woohoo!

Although it seems that some other relevant names like www.hpxuser.com haven't been registered yet.

Actually, it looks as though hpxuser.com has been registered. Oh well.

As for the name of the site, I don't really think it matters in the end. Jarred could change the name to anything, but most of us would still head to DVXuser.com and let it redirect. I've known about hvxuser.com for... well as long as I've been coming here. But I still type dvxuser.com into my address bar.

No worries. Jarred's got it covered.

I think it should stay the same. "DVXuser" is like a brand now. Its easy to remember, and has a huge following. Why tamper with what isnt broke.

Because...I try to direct other filmmakers here and when I tell them the site they blink and then reply "I don't use a DVX". Then I have to intiate my standard 5 minute monologue about how DVXUser isn't really about DVX using...
