Barry, this has nothing to do with the HVX, but I am just curious.
Is this your job? I see you everywhere int this forum, it must take full time job to read all these messages and answer them.

Thanks

"Barry Green" is actually a computer program that scours though video related internet forums and uses enhanced artificial intelligence algorithms combined with manufacturer databases to post witty and knowledgable responses.

Ok, seriously, I don't know how he does it either. I've barely got time to read up on the few cameras I'm interested in.

I sure hope he prices his HVX book much more than $69 - coz I donno how else I can repay him for sharing his knowledge...!

You guys are, of course, completely off the wall... :)

I see you everywhere int this forum, it must take full time job to read all these messages and answer them.
Well, 15 years as a computer programmer got my typing speed up to around 90wpm, so it doesn't take as long as you'd think!

Is DVXUser my job? Seems like it sometimes! No, I run a film & video production company, and I spend most of my time writing -- whether it's training books, scripts for videos, or -- heck, posts here -- which help me stay in touch with what people are wanting to know, and learning from them the things I don't know. When I'm in post on a project, or between projects, I do a lot more posting here; when I'm in the "lab" (i.e., evaluating the HD100 etc) I spend more time here. During "Siren", a low-budget indie I helped produce, I was barely around here so not much posting going on during a project like that. I am the head of my own company so I do have a lot more flexibility with my time than other full-time employees may have.

I still take plenty of jobs between pursuing my own projects; just last week we went to the Carroll Shelby car factory to shoot some MOS shots for a new infomercial; shot his Cobra museum, saw the factory. It turned out that the particular car we were shooting had a body that was entirely 100% polished aluminum! Silver metal, not like the DeLorean, this was polished. So, in other words, the entire car was a MIRROR. It was, like -- how do you light a mirror? The whole vehicle was a mirror. There were some shots where it looked like there were just tires in the shot, because the car itself reflected the ground so perfectly that you couldn't see it! Ah, fun times... last week I also served as DIT/DV Rack operator on a children's video, and we shot a pilot episode of a very, very funny sitcom not long ago.

Lots of projects all over the place. However, I'm re-orienting the business away from courting clients and focusing more on producing our own stuff; between Siren, the DVX Book, the forthcoming HVX Book and its attendant HVX DVD, and the ever-delayed Lighting DVD, there's not that much room to focus on hunting down clients and shooting their jobs anymore... which is risky, sure, but it's a lot more rewarding! Producing your own projects is infinitely more satisfying than doing commercials for someone else!

Barry is much too modest in his description of his work.

I feel that his contributions need to be told to all.

I'm sure you all know Barry lives and makes his living in Las Vegas, aka "Sin City".

What Barry is to modest to mention is the true nature of his work. It's true he was a programmer, and now a writer and producer of his own films. This is the description he uses whenever "mom and dad" ask, what do you do in Las Vegas son.

But Barry's true calling is dancing. or more correctly, a Las Vegas Showgirl.
Barry works at the Luxor Las Vegas Resort Hotel and Casino, under his stage name of "Destiny Calling".

I have included a recent picture of Barry at work, just in case you're ever in Vegas, and want to say hi to him.

Barry, keep up the good work.

Terri, I'm workin' on it! We have a finish date in mind, now we just have to get to there from here...

Pookie, that picture's a little old. I need to get my belly waxed again.
